Publication: Law and Practices of Obligations in Galata in the Light of Sharia Court Records (Second Half of the 17th Century)
Abstract
One of the most important principals used in Ottoman History research is the sharia court records. It presents the introduction of the registers and introductory articles. The aim of this purpose is to evaluate the debt cases in the registry of Galata, an important port and trade region of the Ottoman Empire. Galata's 17th worldwide borders are very wide. The latest information is contained in these wide-area registers, which are in the general of the Galata kadı. Galata, a cosmopolitan city where Muslims, Greeks, Armenians, Jews and Genoese people live together, is in a business where it is in commercial life. In parallel with the commercial, there are many records in the Galata sharia court records with the issues of buying and selling and matters. In addition to the trainings of the trainings within the scope of these records, there will be theoretical information such as the definition of class, its elements, legal training, reasons for payment, judgments of contracts and such.
