Abstract

Nano-structures of two new lead(II) two-dimensional coordination polymers, [Pb<inf>2</inf>(2-pyc)<inf>2</inf>(I)<inf>2</inf>]<inf>n</inf> (1) and [Pb<inf>2</inf>(2-pyc)<inf>2</inf>(Br)<inf>2</inf>]<inf>n</inf> (2), {2-Hpyc = 2-pyridinecarboxilic acid } were synthesized by a sonochemical method that produce the coordination polymers at nano-size. The new nano-structures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. Compounds 1 and 2 were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and consist of two-dimensional polymeric units. The thermal stability of compounds 1 and 2 were studied by thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analyses. PbO and PbBr(OH) nano-structures were obtained by calcination of the nano-structures of compounds 1 and 2 at 400 °C, respectively. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
