Abstract

The relationship between centromere dysfunction leading to numerical chromosomal changes and cancer is well-known. Holliday Junction Recognition Protein (HJURP) is a chaperone of the centromere-specific protein, Centromere Protein A (CENP-A), and is considered a critical factor in determining centromere identity. There are researches showing that CENP-A is overexpressed in many types of human cancer. However, the role and dynamics of HJURP in tumorigenesis have only recently been clarified. In this review, the connection between HJURP and liver cancer, as well as the role of HJURP in cancer development, has been summarized. © 2025 Ondokuz Mayis Universitesi. All rights reserved.
