Abstract

The novel bis(cyclohexylaminium) cyclohexylaminebis(orotate-N,O)cuprate(II) dihydrate, (C<inf>6</inf>H<inf>15</inf>N)<inf>2</inf>[Cu(C<inf>5</inf>H<inf>2</inf>N<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf>)<inf>2</inf>(C<inf>6</inf>H<inf>14</inf>N)] · 2H<inf>2</inf>O, has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic measurements, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction. The Cu(II) complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2<inf>1</inf>/c. The copper atom in the five-coordinated (chaH)<inf>2</inf>[Cu(HOr-N,O)<inf>2</inf>(cha)] · 2H<inf>2</inf>O is chelated by a deprotonated pyrimidine nitrogen atom and carboxylate oxygen atom as a bis(bidentate) ligand and the cyclohexylamine ligand completes the square-pyramidal coordination. The thermal decomposition of the complex has been predicted by the help of thermal analysis (TG, DTG and DTA). © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
