Abstract
In this study, the interaction of sulfasalazine which is one of the anti-inflammatory drugs used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease, with Co(II) and Zn(II) ions was investigated. The optimum pH was determined as 7.4 in the Britton-Robinson buffer. Voltammetric methods (square wave voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry) were used. In the first stage of the study, the effect of pH of the supporting electrolyte, scanning speed and frequency on the peak current and peak potential of sulfasalazine was investigated voltametrically. Finally, the interaction of sulfasalazine with Co(II) and Zn(II) ions was investigated in pH 7.4.
