Sınıf Öğretmenlerinin Öznel İyi Oluş Düzeyleri ile Mesleki Tükenmişlikleri Arasındaki İlişki

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between subjective wellbeing levels of classroom teachers and their occupational burnout. The views of 530 classroom teachers working at official primary schools in the districts of Altınordu, Fatsa and Ünye in Ordu province in the 2019-2020 academic year were consulted in accordance with this purpose. 'Personal Information Form' containing the demographic information of teachers (gender, age, marital status, Professional seniority), 'Teacher Subjective Well-being Scale' adapted into Turkish by Ergün and Nartgün (2017), and 'Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educator Survey' adapted into Turkish by İnce and Şahin (2015) were used for data collection. SPSS 14 package program was used in the analysis of the collected data. With Kolmogorov Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk normality test, we examined whether the scale data showed normal distribution. Non-parametric statistical methods were used since the data was not normally distributed according to the Test results. Therefore, Mann Whitney U test was used for comparisons between two groups, and Kruskal Wallis H test was used for comparisons of three or more groups. Results with a p value of less than .05 in the statistical analyzes performed were considered statistically significant. According to the results of the research, the overall subjective well-being levels and lower dimensions of classroom teachers were determined to be 'high'. In all lower dimensions of the burnout scale, classroom teachers were found to have a 'low' level of burnout. There was no statistically significant difference in the total and lower dimensions of the 'Teacher Subjective Well-Being Scale' according to the gender variable. However, it was determined that there were statistically significant differences in total and sub-dimensions according to age, marital status and professional seniority variable. There was no statistically significant difference in 'emotional exhaustion' and 'personal achievement' sub-dimensions, while the level of occupational burnout of classroom teachers made a statistically significant difference in the lower dimension of 'desensitization' relative to the gender variable. Statistically significant differences were found in all burnout sub-dimensions according to the age variable. According to the marital status variable, there was no statistically significant difference between the burnout scale sub-dimensions of the teachers. There was a statistically significant difference only in the 'emotional exhaustion' sub-dimension according to the professional seniority variable. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between the total and sub dimensions of the 'Teacher Subjective Well-Being Scale' of classroom teachers and the scores from the 'emotional exhaustion' and 'desensitization' sub dimensions of the burnout scale. A positive statistically significant relationship was found between the total dimensions and sub-dimensions of the' Teacher Subjective Well-Being Scale 'and the' personal achievement' sub-dimension of the burnout scale.

Bu araştırma, sınıf öğretmenlerinin öznel iyi oluş düzeyleri ile mesleki tükenmişlikleri aralarındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Ordu ili Altınordu, Fatsa ve Ünye ilçelerinde 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılında resmi ilkokullarda görev yapan 530 sınıf öğretmeninin görüşüne başvurulmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında öğretmenlerin demografik bilgilerini içeren (cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, mesleki kıdem) 'Kişisel Bilgi Formu', Ergün ve Nartgün (2017) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan 'Öğretmen Öznel İyi Oluş Ölçeği' ve İnce ve Şahin (2015) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan 'Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği-Eğitimci Formu' kullanılmıştır. Toplanan verilerin analizinde SPSS 14 paket programı kullanılmıştır. Ölçek verilerinin normal dağılım gösterip göstermediği Kolmogorov Smirnov ve Shapiro-Wilk normallik testi ile incelenmiştir. Test sonuçlarına göre veriler normal dağılmadığından non-parametrik istatistik yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Bu nedenle iki grup arası karşılaştırmalarda Mann Whitney U testi, üç ve daha fazla grup karşılaştırmalarında Kruskal Wallis H testi uygulanmıştır. Yapılan istatistiksel analizlerde p değeri .05'in altındaki sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak anlamlı kabul edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre sınıf öğretmenlerinin genel öznel iyi oluş düzeyleri ve alt boyutlarında 'yüksek' olarak tespit edilmiştir. Tükenmişlik ölçeğinin tüm alt boyutlarında sınıf öğretmenlerinin tükenmişlikleri 'düşük' düzeydedir. Cinsiyet değişkenine göre 'Öğretmen Öznel İyi Oluş Ölçeği ' toplam ve alt boyutlarının hiçbirinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir farklılık meydana gelmemiştir. Ancak yaş, medeni durum ve mesleki kıdem değişkenine göre toplam ve alt boyutlarında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı düzeyde farklılıklar olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sınıf öğretmenlerinin mesleki tükenmişlik düzeyi cinsiyet değişkenine göre 'duyarsızlaşma' alt boyutunda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark oluştururken, 'duygusal tükenme' ve 'kişisel başarı' alt boyutlarında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark bulunamamıştır. Yaş değişkenine göre tüm tükenmişlik alt boyutlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur. Medeni durum değişkenine göre öğretmenlerin, tükenmişlik ölçeği alt boyutları arasında anlamlı farklılık meydana gelmemiştir. Mesleki kıdem değişkenine göre ise sadece 'duygusal tükenme' alt boyutunda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık meydana gelmiştir. Sınıf öğretmenlerinin 'Öğretmen Öznel İyi Oluş Ölçeği' toplam ve alt boyutları ile tükenmişlik ölçeği 'duygusal tükenme' ve 'duyarsızlaşma' alt boyutlarından alınan puanlar arasında negatif yönde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. 'Öğretmen Öznel İyi Oluş Ölçeği' toplam ve alt boyutları ile tükenmişlik ölçeği 'kişisel başarı' alt boyutu arasında ise pozitif yönde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur.
