Abstract

In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C <inf>4</inf>H <inf>4</inf>-NO <inf>4</inf>S) <inf>2</inf>(C <inf>2</inf>H <inf>8</inf>N <inf>2</inf>) <inf>2</inf>], the Cu 2+ ion resides on a centre of symmetry. The environment of Cu 2+ ion is a distorted octahedron. The axial bond lengths between the Cu II ion and the N atoms are considerably longer than the equatorial bond distances between the Cu II ion and the N atoms of the ethylenediamine ligand as a consequence of the Jahn-Teller effect. The molecular conformation is stabilized by intramolecular N-H···O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, molecules are connected by intermolecular N-H···O hydrogen bonds into chains running along the a axis.
