Our study called "Religion in the Context of Globalization" focused on two points: One of them is related to the nature of the phenomenon of globalization. Although we have a great number of literature about the theories concerning globalization in our day, there is not any satisfactory study on the nature of globalization. It is for this reason that controversies about globalization still continue. Therefore the way in which the globalization is understood has been characteristic for determining its relation with social and cultural phenomena. Hence globalization is dealt with in our study as a conceptualisation that defined the processes of the concrete structure of the world in the period of cold war and conceptualisation related to sociological imagination. Our study underlines that globalization is not a political and ideological attitude. On the contrary, globalization describes the present situation of our world as it appears within the context of synchronisation of the processes of homogeneity and heterogeneity and of its relatedness. The second point studied is related to the relationship between religion and globalization and their mutual consequences. In this context, on the one hand, globalization makes religion private and relative, and this situation affects negatively the theological and social aspects of religion. On the other hand, it prepares the ground to the revival of traditional religions and new religious movements. Because of this function, globalization gives a significant role to religion in shaping global system and in the process of participation of local/sub-groups in the system. As a result, it can be said that globalization has not removed the importance of religion, but protected its communicational character as in the past. So, religion is still an important factor in a global society, too.en_US
