Abstract

Cancer is medical physical disease besides its being an issue including many psychological and psychosocial problems. Disease is the most common stress that every child meets. This stress and its symptoms may differ, depending on the factors such as the kind and duration of disease, the life-changes caused by it, age, personality and the accompanying conditions. The researchs support that child and family pass through some certain stages such as diagnosis, treatment, remission, relapse and terminal stage and show some symptoms belonging to these stages. These studies also have shown that they experience fear, anxiety and depression more. Chemothrepy, invasive painfull applications, leaving from family and school, meeting the strangers, feeling of a threat to body wholeness, hair loss related to treatment, limitation of physical activity are the factors affecting the psychology and psychosocial conformity of the child. The psychological treatment is a consiladative and inseperable part of the cancer treatment and completes the physical treatment of the disease. Nurse is responsible for providing the necessary support and care to gain the child back to the society. In addition to these, during all those stages they help family and child both in learning how to live with the cancer and also how to improve the psychological and physically quality of their lives. The effect of the cancer over the child should not be ignored. This property and the nature of the cancer brings the necessity for the nursing care to be a whole with its every aspects.
