Abstract
Amaç: Bu çalışma cep telefonları tarafından yayılan elektromanyetik alanın (EMA) hipokampus piramidal nöronları üzerindeki olası etkilerine odaklanmak ve bu olumsuz etkilerin azaltılmasında kurkumin (Kur), Garcinia Kola (GK) ve gam arabik'in (GA) rolünü araştırmak üzere tasarlanmıştır. Materyal ve Metot: Çalışmamızda 12 haftalık 54 adet Wistar albino cinsi erkek sıçan kullanıldı.Sıçanlar rastgele olarak her grup 6 sıçandan oluşmak üzere 9 eşit gruba ayrıldı. Kontrol, Kur, GK ve GA grupları EMA'ya maruz bırakılmadı.Sham grubu EMA'ya maruzbırakılmadan EMA sisteminde tutuldu.EMA + Kur, EMA + GK, EMF + GA ve EMA grupları, 28 gün boyunca her güngünde bir saat 900 MHz EMA'ya maruz bırakıldı. Beyin doku örneklerinde, sıçan cornu ammonis (CA)'daki piramidal nöronların sayısı, optik parçalama tekniği kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır.Histopatolojik değişiklikler ışık mikroskobu ile değerlendirildi. Ayrıca, süperoksit dismutaz (SOD) ve katalaz (KAT) enzimlerin aktivitesi kan serum örneklerinde değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Stereolojik veri analizi, EMA grubunun CA'sındaki piramidal nöronların toplam sayısının, kontrol ve Sham gruplarına göre önemli ölçüde azaldığını gösterdi. EMA + Cur ve EMA + GK gruplarında EMA grubuna göre anlamlı ilerleme gözlendi (p <0.01). EMA + GA grubunda EMA grubuna göre anlamlı bir fark gözlenmedi (p>0.05). Sonuç: 900 MHz EMA, hipokampal piramidal nöronlarda ciddi değişikliklere neden olur. Cur ya da GK, bu zararlı etkileri en aza indirebilirken, GA olumlu bir etki göstermemiştir. Aim: The present study was designed to focus on the possible effects of the electromagnetic field (EMF) emitted by the mobile phones on the hippocampal pyramidal neurons and to investigate the role of curcumin (Cur), garcinia kola (GK) and gum arabic (GA) in the reduction of these adverse effects. Material and Methods: Fifty four Wistar albino male rats, with 12 week-old were used for the present study. The rats were randomly divided into nine equal groups each group consisted of 6 rats. The Control (cont), Cur, GK and GA groups were not exposed to 900 Megahertz (MHz) EMF. Sham group was kept in the EMF exposure system without being exposed to the EMF. EMF+Cur, EMF+GK, EMF+GA and EMF groups were exposed to 900 MHz EMF for 28 days for one hour per day. in the brain tissue samples the number of the pyramidal neurons in rat cornu ammonis (CA) were calculated using the optical fractionator technique. histopathological changes were evaluated by light microscope. Furthermore, the activities of the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzymes were evaluated in the blood serum samples. Results: Stereological data analysis revealed that the total number of the pyramidal neurons in the CA of the EMF group significantly decreased versus control and sham groups. Significant progress was observed in the EMF+Cur and EMF+GK groups versus EMF group (p<0.01). No significant difference was observed in the EMF+GA group versus EMF group (p<0.01). Conclusion: 900 MHz EMF causes serious alterations on the hippocampal pyramidal neurons. The Cur or the GK could minimize these hazardous effects, While GA didn't exhibit a positive action.
