Abstract
Item response theory is a modern test theory which is also known latent trait theory. There are two purposes for describing item response theory models. The first is to present basic concepts about the modeling of the interaction between persons and test items using simple models that allow a simpler explication of the concepts. The second purpose is to identify shortcomings of the item response theory models that motivated the development of more complex models. As with all scientific models of observed phenomena, the models are only useful to the extent that they provide reasonable approximations to real world relationships. It is generally regarded as superior to classical test theory. And at the same time item response theory requires stronger assumptions than classical test theory. In this study, data which obtained from exam of medical development was analyzed with item response theory. Parameters of item difficulty, parameters of item discrimination, item characteristic curves and abilities of person analyses are explored.
