This research focuses an examination of municipal solid waste (MSW) generation and composition in Amasya, providing overview of the current state of MSW management, an analysis of existing problems in MSW collection, separation, recycling and disposal. Municipal solid waste comprises more than 95% of Amasya's solid waste, while three other types of solid waste comprise less than 5% of it, namely industrial waste (3.5%), hospital waste (1.0%) and construction and demolition waste (0.5%). Amasya produces about 370 tons of solid waste per day. The average MSW generation rate was found to be 1.35 kg/day per capita. The major constituent of MSW in Amasya is food waste, but the percentage of recyclable waste has increased significantly recently.en_US
