Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between school principals’ democratic attitudes and teachers’ perceptions of organizational trust. The research was conducted with relational screening model. The research population consists of 1034 teachers working in schools in central, Hopa and Arhavi districts of Artvin province during the academic year of 2017-2018. The sample consists of 439 teachers determined through random sampling from the research population. ‘Democratic Attitude Scale’ and ‘Organizational Trust Scale’ were used to collect data. The teachers stated that the school principals ‘often’ have a democratic attitude. According to the teachers’ perceptions, the level of organizational trust is at ‘mostly’ level in the general and in all dimensions of the scale. The democratic attitude variable shows a high level of meaningful relationship in a positive direction with the total scores of organizational trust, trust in the principle, trust in colleagues and trust in stakeholders. The democratic attitudes of school principals are a significant predictor of teachers’ perceptions of organizational trust. © 2021. Milli Egitim. All Rights Reserved.
