Abstract
In the molecule of the title compound, C<inf>12</inf>H<inf>16</inf>C <inf>2</inf>, all atoms except one methyl group and two H atoms are located on a crystallographic mirror plane; thus the molecule is essentially planar. An intramolecular O - H⋯O hydrogen bond and weak C - H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds stabilize the packing. The structure has been previously reported in the non-centrosymmetric space group P2<inf>1</inf>; our study shows that the correct space group is P2<inf>1</inf>/m. © 2006 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.
