2-Amino-5-Nitrobenzoic Acid

Abstract

In the title compound, C <inf>7</inf>H <inf>6</inf>N <inf>2</inf>O <inf>4</inf>, an intra-molecular N - H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of O - H⋯O hydrogen bonds generate R <inf>2</inf> 2(8) loops. Inter-molecular N - H⋯O and C - H⋯O hydrogen bonds then link the dimers, generating R <inf>3</inf> 3(16)R <inf>2</inf> 1(6) motifs. The whole mol-ecule is essentially planar, with the greatest deviation from the mean plane being 0.065 (2) Å.
