Publication: İngilizce Öğretim Programı Kazanımları ve Ders Kitaplarının, Yabancı Dil Testi (Ydt) ile Uyumunun İncelenmesi ve Paydaş Görüşlerinin Değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the compatibility of the outcomes of the secondary education English curriculum with the outcomes to be measured in Foreign Language Test (FLT) items; determining whether the words in the questions overlap with the words in the MoNE high school English textbooks provided by the MoNE and evaluating the opinions of teachers and students on both subjects. For this purpose, using the document analysis method, Foreign Language Test questions applied between 2020-2023 (last 4 years) were first examined in terms of outcomes; the outcomes that overlap and do not overlap with the curriculum were written with their explanations. Secondly, the words in each section of the tests were tabulated and checked whether these words were included in the MoNE English books used in high schools in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the other dimension of the research, the descriptive survey method was used to evaluate the opinions of teachers and students about the compatibility of the curriculum outcomes and the words in the textbooks with the FLT questions. For this purpose, a 5-point Likert scale prepared by the researchers by taking expert opinions was applied to randomly selected 120 English teachers and 210 language class students from all districts of Samsun province in the pilot application; 150 teachers and 150 students in the main application. Scale results were examined using the SPSS package program. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was %71 compatibility in terms of outcomes and, %80 compatibility in terms of words. In addition, it is seen that teachers and students are undecided about the compatibility of the outcomes with exam questions. It was also found that both teachers and students had a negative opinion about words appearing in the exam being included in the textbooks. Finally, it was emphasized that in order to accurately evaluate the target language skills of language students, a test that examines four basic language skills is needed.
