Post-Dijital Sanatta Gerçeklik Algısı

Abstract

21. yüzyılda, dijital teknolojiler aracılığıyla insan-makine etkileşimine dayalı, sanal ve fiziksel gerçekliğin iç içe geçtiği endüstriyel üretim süreçleri, bilimsel araştırmalar ve sanatsal pratikler gerçekleştirilmektedir. Dijital teknolojilerin yaşamın normali olarak kabul edildiği post-dijital, bu teknolojiler yalnızca bir araç olmanın ötesinde kültürel bir olgu olarak konumlanmakta, bireysel ve toplumsal yaşamı biçimlendirmekte etkin rol oynamaktadır. Post-dijital sanatta yapay zekâ, robotik, sanal gerçeklik, blokzincir, biyoteknoloji gibi teknolojilerden sanat üretim aracı olarak faydalanılırken; yeni sanat üretim ortamları, estetik üretim teknikleri, sanat ifade yöntemleri ve etkileşim biçimleri geliştirilmektedir. Bununla birlikte, post-dijital kültürün baskın dinamiklerinin bileşkesinde oluşan yeni kültürel dengeler çağın sanat pratiklerine yansımakta, post-dijital sanat teknik ve tematik bağlamlarıyla kültürün bir taşıyıcısı olarak konumlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, post-dijital çağda dönüşen gerçeklik algısı ve algısal yönlendirme mekanizmaları arasındaki gerilimin post-dijital sanat olgusu üzerinden araştırılmasıdır. Ayrıca insanın ne anlama geldiğine ve evrendeki konumuna dair geliştirilen yaklaşımların; sanat ekseninde teknoloji, felsefe, psikoloji, iletişim ve medya araştırmaları gibi disiplinlerin ışığında insan doğasına ve insan bilincinin çok katmanlı yapısına dair bütüncül bir çerçeve üzerinden değerlendirilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Çalışma kapsamında, post-dijital kültür-sanat ilişkisinde biçimlenen sanat olgusu çağın sanatsal pratikleri, sanatçıların estetik üretim anlayışı ve motivasyonları üzerinden araştırılmakta; post-dijital sanatın algısal yönelimlerle ilişkisi sorgulanmaktadır. TUBİTAK tarafından desteklenen ve durum çalışmasıyla desenlenen nitel araştırmada, gözlem ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nitel araştırmanın örneklemi İstanbul'da gözlemlenebilen post-dijital sanat eserleriyle sınırlandırılmıştır. Alan uzmanı dokuz katılımcı ise ölçüt örneklemi/çalışma grubu ve kartopu örneklemi/çalışma grubu doğrultusunda belirlenmiştir. Gözlem verilerinin analizinde betimsel analiz kullanılırken, görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler için ise içerik analizi tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmelerden elde edilen verilerin post-dijital kültür ve sanatın kavramsal çerçevesiyle örtüştüğünü göstermektedir. Bununla beraber post-dijital çağda insanın ne anlama geldiğini ve alternatif varoluş biçimlerini robotik ya da biyoteknoloji yöntem ve teknikleri aracılığıyla sorgulayan sanatsal pratiklere gözlem sürecinde rastlanmamıştır. Bu nedenle gözlem bulguları araştırma kapsamını kısmen yansıtmaktadır.

In the 21st century, industrial production processes, scientific research, and artistic practices are being carried out through human-machine interaction via digital technologies, where virtual and physical realities are intertwined. In the post-digital era, where digital technologies are accepted as the norm of life, these technologies are positioned not merely as tools but as cultural phenomena, playing an active role in shaping individual and social life. In post-digital art, technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, blokchain, and biotechnology are utilized as tools for artistic production, while new artistic production environments, aesthetic production techniques, methods of artistic expression, and forms of interaction are being developed. At the same time, the new cultural balances formed by the dominant dynamics of post-digital culture are reflected in the art practices of the era, and post-digital art is positioned as a carrier of culture with its technical and thematic contexts. The aim of this study is to investigate the tension between the changing perception of reality and perceptual orientation mechanisms in the post-digital age through the phenomenon of post-digital art. In addition, it aims to evaluate approaches developed regarding the meaning of humanity and its place in the universe within a holistic framework, focusing on art and drawing on disciplines such as technology, philosophy, psychology, communication, and media studies within the multi-layered structure of human nature and consciousness. Within the scope of the study, the phenomenon of art shaped by the post-digital culture-art relationship is investigated through the artistic practices of the era, artists' aesthetic production understanding, and motivations; the relationship between post-digital art and perceptual orientations is questioned. Supported by TUBİTAK and designed as a case study, the qualitative research involved observation and semi-structured interviews. The sample for the qualitative research was limited to post-digital artworks that could be observed in Istanbul. Nine participants who were experts in the field were selected based on criterion sampling/working group and snowball sampling/working group. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the observation data, while content analysis was preferred for the data obtained from the interviews. The research findings show that the data obtained from the semi-structured interviews correspond with the conceptual framework of post-digital culture and art. However, during the observation process, no artistic practices have were encountered that questioned the meaning of humanity and alternative forms of existence in the post-digital age with robotic or biotechnological methods and techniques. Therefore, the observation findings partially reflect the scope of the research.
