12,13-Dihydro-12-Oxo-13-Phenylbenzo[b]-Naphth[f][1,4]oxazepine-2,3-Dicarbonitrile

Abstract

The crystal structure of the compound, C<inf>25</inf>H<inf>13</inf>N <inf>3</inf>O<inf>2</inf> was stabilized only by weak van der Waals interactions. 3-Hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid annilide and 4,5-dichloro-1,2-dicyanobenzene were heated to 348 Kin dry dimethylformamide with stirring under N<inf>2</inf>. Dry fine-powdered potassium carbonate was added in portions every 10 min. Recrystallization from ethanol gave a white product, and single crystals were obtained from ethanol at room temperature via slow evaporation.
