Abstract

In radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting systems, it is essential for the system's efficiency that the antenna is both broadband and high-gain. In this study, a broadband and highgain printed log-periodic dipole antenna with reduced dimensions through a folding technique was designed for use in RF energy harvesting systems. The bandwidth has been increased by adding dipoles to the designed antenna. The antenna operates from 0,78 GHz to 3,1 GHz, covering the 2G/3G/4G frequency bands. The gain of the antenna, using FR-4 with a relative permittivity of 4,2 as a dielectric material, varies between 3 dBi and 6,3 dBi. The designed antenna is smaller than the existing ones in the literature and has a wider operating frequency range.
