5. Sınıf Fen Bilimleri Dersindeki 'Mantarları Tanıyalım' Konusunda, Yer Temelli Eğitimin Akademik Başarıya ve Tutuma Etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Ortaokul 5. Sınıf 'Canlılar Dünyasını Gezelim Tanıyalım' ünitesi, 'Mantarları Tanıyalım' konusunun yer temelli eğitimle işlenmesinin, öğrencilerin akademik başarısındaki artışa ve Fen Bilimleri dersine yönelik tutumlarına olan etkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışma, 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Bartın iline bağlı bir okulda 5. sınıfta öğrenim gören 20 öğrenci ile birlikte 6 ders saati boyunca yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada, eylem (aksiyon) araştırması deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma öncesinde araştırmacılar tarafından yer temelli eğitime uygun etkinlikler tasarlanmış ve uzman görüşü alınarak gerekli düzeltmelerle son halini almıştır. Araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş olan, 'Mantarları Tanıyalım' Başarı testi öntest-sontest olarak kullanılmıştır. Güvenilirlik katsayısı 0,913 olan Fen Bilimleri Dersi Tutum Anketi ölçme aracı ise yine çalışma öncesinde ve sonrasında öğrencilerin tutumunu ölçmek amacıyla kullanılmıştır. Araştırmamızın nitel verileri ise yapılandırılmış öğrenci günlükleri ile toplanmıştır. Ayrıca çalışma sırasında araştırmacının yaptığı gözlemlerden yola çıkarak araştırmacı günlükleri hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına ve Fen Bilimleri dersine yönelik tutumlarına bakıldığında öntest ve sontest puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu görülmektedir. Bu farkla yer temelli eğitim etkinliklerinin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını arttırmada olumlu bir etkisinin olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen nitel veriler de nicel verileri desteklemektedir. Araştırma sonuçlarının, araştırmada kullanılan etkinliklerin ve önerilerin araştırmacılara yol göstermesi ve farklı bakış açıları kazandırması beklenmektedir.

In this study, the effect of the place-based education of the fifth grade ' Let's Travel And Learn About The Living World ' unit, 'Get to Know the Fungi', on the academic success of the students and their attitudes towards the science lesson was investigated. The study was conducted during 6 lesson hours with 20 students studying in the 5th class in a school in which the researcher affiliated to the province of Bartın also worked in the spring semester 2013-2014 academic year. In the study, action research was used. At the beginning of the study, ground-based educational activities were designed by the researchers and the expert opinion was taken to finalize the necessary corrections. The ' Get to Know the Fungi' success test developed by the researchers was used as a pretest-posttest. The Science Information Attitude Questionnaire, which had a reliability coefficient of 0.913, was also used to measure the attitudes of the students before and after the study. Qualitative data of our study were collected with structured student diaries. In addition, investigator logs were prepared from the observations made by the researcher during the study. When we look at the academic achievements of students participating in the research and their attitudes towards science, it is seen that there is a meaningful difference between pretest and posttest scores. This has led to the fact that place-based education activities have a positive effect in enhancing the academic achievement of students. Qualitative data obtained as a result of the study support quantitative data. It is expected that the results of the research, the activities used in the research and suggestions lead the researchers and gain different perspectives.
