Abstract

[Cu(1-meim)<inf>4</inf>]·2(PF<inf>6</inf>) (1-meim: 1-methylimidazole) complex has been synthesized and characterized by EPR, FT-IR, and XRD techniques. The Cu(II) complex crystallizes in the monoclinic system with the space group P2<inf>1</inf>/<inf>c</inf>. EPR spectrum of [Cu(1-meim)<inf>4</inf>]·2(PF<inf>6</inf>) powder has been studied at room temperature. The spin Hamiltonian parameters (g and hyperfine values) have been calculated. The results indicate the axial symmetry around the paramagnetic Cu2+ center. 2 2 The ground state wave function of Cu2+ ion has been constructed. The unpaired electron spends most of its time in dx2-y2 orbital. © 2016 AIP Publishing LLC.
