| dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to determine the effect of alcohol treatment on in situ degradabilities of some protein sources. While the dry matter degradabilities (DMP) of hazelnut kernel oil meal (HKOM). soybean meal (SBM), sunflower meal (SM) and full-fat soy (FFS) for 24 hour incubation period were found to be 86.06, 86.01, 70.66 and 70.21%, the corresponding values for alcohol treatment were 74.63, 79.41, 61.26 and 63.41%, respectively. For the same incubation period rumen organic matter degradabilities (OMD) of untreated feeds and alcohol treated feeds were found to be 85.20, 90.32, 70.96, 71.29% and 75.61, 72.24, 62.54 and 64.08%, respectively. The crude protein degradabilities (CPD) of HKOM, SBM, SM and FFS (84.48, 84.01, 87.41 and 66.13%) were higher than alcohol treated HKOM, SBM, SM and FFS (73.39, 75.03, 76.12 and 61.54%). Effective dry matter degradabilities (EDMD) of untreated and alcohol treated HKOM, SBM, SM and FFS (k=0.05) were found to be 66.05-53.65%, 67.35-56.85%, 56.60-44.65% and 53.25-48.35%, respectively. While the effective organic matter degradabilities (EOMD) of untreated and alcohol treated HKOM, SBM, SM and FFS were found to be 66.80-53.05%, 69.45-54.20 %, 56.30-47.65%, 54.00-45.50%, and the corresponding values for effective protein degradabilities (EPD) were 66.70-56.05 %, 65.80-54.75%, 68.20-57.20 and 49.05-45.20%, respectively. it can be concluded that alcohol treatment decreased the rumen degradabilities of vegetable protein sources. | en_US |
