Vaftizci Yahya: İsa-mesih'in Öncüsü

Abstract

Bu çalışma Hristiyanlıkta İsa-Mesih'in öncüsü kabul edilen Vaftizci Yahya'nın yaşamı, öğretisi ve İsa-Mesih'le ilişkisini ele almakta; Yahya'nın Hristiyanlık içindeki konumunu ve Hristiyan geleneğinin oluşumundaki rolünü açıklamayı amaçlamaktadır. İki bölümden oluşan çalışmanın ilk bölümünde Vaftizci Yahya'nın doğduğu ve yaşadığı yer olan Filistin bölgesinin Yahya öncesi dönemdeki siyasî, dinî ve sosyoekonomik durumları ele alınmış, Yahya'nın gelişine ortam hazırlayan faktörler tarihî arka planıyla incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise Yahya'nın yaşamı, öğretisi, bölgedeki Yahudi gruplarla ilişkisi, tutuklanması ve ölümü, ölümünün ardından cemaatinin durumu ve Yahya'nın İsa-Mesih'le ilişkisi hem tarihî kaynaklar hem de Kanonik İnciller ekseninde ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın değerlendirme ve sonuç bölümünde ise önceki bölümlerde belirtilen önemli noktalar değerlendirme yoluna gidilmiştir. Anahtar Sözcükler: Vaftizci Yahya, vaftiz, Ġsa-Mesih, Hristiyanlık

This study deals with the life and teachings of John the Baptist, who is considered as the forerunner of Jesus Christ in Christianity and his relationship with Jesus Christ. Furthermore, it aims to clarify the role of John the Baptist in Christianity and in the formation of Christian tradition. In the first chapter of the study, which consists of two chapters, the political, religious and socioeconomic conditions before the birth of John the Baptist in the Palestine region, where he was born and raised, are covered. The factors which paved the way for John the Baptist's emergence as a prophet are examined with their historical background. In the second chapter, the life and the teachings of John the Baptist, his relationships with Jewish religious groups, his arrest and death, the state of his community after him and his relationships with Jesus Christ are discussed within the context of both historical sources and canonical gospels. In the discussion and conclusion chapter, the main points which have been stated in the previous chapters are discussed. Keywords: John the Baptist, baptism, Jesus Christ, Christianity
