Osmanlı'da Cellatlar ve Cellat Ocağı

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Osmanlı Devleti'nde cellatlık mesleği, bu mesleğin dâhil olduğu askerî düzen, Cellat Ocağı'na giden süreç ve bu ocağın işleyişi ile kaldırılışı anlatılmaktadır. Bunun yanı sıra; farklı dönemlerde uygulanan ceza, işkence ve idam yöntemleri ele alınmaktadır. Bu uygulamaların ardından gerçekleşen süreçten ve cellatların bu süreçteki rolünden de bahsedilmektedir. Ayrıca cellatların kullandıkları aletlere ve infazın gerçekleştiği yerlere de değinilmektedir.

The subject of this study are mainly the position of executioners as a profession during the Ottoman Empire history, the place of profession at the Ottoman Army, settlement of Guild of Executioner, works of this forces for four centuries and abolution of Guild of Executioner with new settlements as government politics. Secondly the methods of punishment, torture and execution applied in different periods are the other subjects that we have focused on. Additionally, the process followed by these practices and the role of executioners is this process are also mentioned. Besides, the tools used by the executioners and the places where the execution takes place are explained.
