Ortaokul Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi İçeriğinin Öğrencileri Lise Tarih ve Coğrafya Dersi Öğretimine Hazırlama Durumunun Öğretmen Görüşleri Doğrultusunda Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, ortaokul sosyal bilgiler dersi içeriğinin öğrencileri lise tarih ve coğrafya dersinin öğretimine hazırlama durumu katılımcı öğretmen görüşleri doğrultusunda incelenmektedir. Samsun ilinin İlkadım, Atakum ve Canik ilçelerinde 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan 61 öğretmen ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği çerçevesinde görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmeler neticesinde elde edilen veriler analiz edilerek çeşitli sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Sosyal bilgiler, tarih ve coğrafya öğretmenleri, ana ve alt problem cümleleri hakkında fikirlerini ifade ederek mevcut durum ve gerekli olan düzenlemeler hakkında öneriler sundular. Bu çalışmada; sosyal bilgiler ders içeriğinin tarih ve coğrafya alanında konu eksikliğinin bulunduğu, içerik diziliminin yeterli olmadığı, 8. sınıfta coğrafya içerikli bir dersin bulunmamasının öğrencilerde coğrafya alanında gerileme yaşanmasına sebep olduğu ve sosyal bilgiler dersinin yerine tarih ve coğrafya derslerinin olması gerektiği çalışmanın en önemli sonuçlarındandır. Bu çalışmanın sosyal bilgiler eğitimi alanında farklı çalışmalara da kaynaklık yapacağı düşünülmektedir.

In this research, the situation of creating an awareness about history and geography with the help of social studies in secondary schools is investigated within the frame of the main problem, which is the preparation of students for the history and geography classes in high schools, by the social studies curriculum of secondary schools. Semi-structured interviews were had with 61 secondary school and high school teachers who were currently on-duty at state schools in 2017-2018 Academic year in the districts of Ilkadim, Canik and Atakum of the city of Samsun. Various conclusions have been reached thanks to these interviews by analysing the data obtained. Social studies, history and geography teachers described their opinions about the main, sub problem sentences, and proposed some suggestions about the current situation and the necessary arrangements. In this study, most importnt conclusions reached are as the following; the content of social studies lessons lacks of necessary historical and geographical topics, the content order is not enough, the lack of a geography lesson for the 8th grades causes a recession for students in this field and social studies lesson might be replaced by history and geography lessons. It is anticipated that this research will be a resource for various studies in the field of social studies.
