Abstract
Hastaların 3 (% 3)'ünden E. coli 0157, 2 (% 2)'sinden A. hydrophila izole edilmiştir. 35
SUMMARY E. coli 0157 related infections have a broad clinic spectrum from asymptomatic carriage to watery or bloody diarrhea and hemolytic uremic syndrome. Although Aeromonas spp. cause to diarrhea in the persons who use especially the unchlorinated water. The study was done for to determine the frequency of E. coli 0157 and Aeromonas spp. in the patients with acute diarrhea. This study was included hundred patients who are 51 (51 %) men and 49 (49 %) women, the mean age is 30.5±25 (ranges of age: 1 months-88 years). Sorbitol MacConkey agar was used for E. coli 0157, Aeromonas agar (Oxoid) and blood agar with ampicillin medium was used for Aeromonas spp.. Latex agglutination test (Oxoid) for 0 157 was applied to the nonfermentative E. coli isolates. Reverse passive latex agglutination test (VTEC-RPLA) for verotoxin 1 and verototoxin 2 was applied to seropositives. E. coli 0157 and A. hydrophila were isolated respectively from 3 (3 %) and 2 (2 %) patients. E. coli 0157 strains were found to be negative for VT1 ve VT2. Consequently, E. coli 0157 and Aeromonas spp. are a potential enteric pathogen for our country. It is necessary to be done the studies contained more cases for to determine the frequency of E. coli 0157 and Aeromonas spp. in bacterial diarrhea. 36
