Uluslararası Spor Etkinliklerinin Ev Sahibi Kentler Üzerine Etkileri: Samsun 23. Deaflympics Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı; 23. Yaz Deaflympics'in Samsun şehrine etkilerini incelemektir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak Jie ve Yan (2010) tarafından geliştirilen ve Türkçe uyarlaması, geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışması Şimşek (2012) tarafından yapılan 36 maddeden ve 8 alt boyuttan (ekonomik katkı, turizm altyapısı, şehir imajı, ekonomik maliyet, kültürel değişim, sosyal ve çevresel problemler, çevresel ve kültürel koruma, kültürel çatışma) oluşan, 5'li likert tipi (1= Kesinlikle Katılmıyorum ve 5= Kesinlikle Katılıyorum) Mega Organizasyon Etkisi Ölçeği ile 14 maddelik kişisel bilgi formundan yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada incelenen sürekli değişkenler normal dağılımlı olmadığından verilerin analizinde parametrik olmayan istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Demografik değişkenlere göre verileri analiz etmek için Mann-Whitney U testi, Wilcoxon İşaretlenmiş Sıra Sayıları testi ile nitel değişkenlerin testinde Ki-kare Testi ve Ki-kare istatistiğine dayalı bağımlı ve bağımsız örneklemler için değişimi test eden McNemar Testi ve Marjinal Homojenlik testi uygulanmıştır. Alt boyutlara ait puan değişkenlerine göre verileri analiz etmek için ise iki grup karşılaştırmasında Mann-Whitney U-Testi; ikiden çok gruplarda ise Kruskall Wallis-H Testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, Deaflympics'i takip edenler ve lisansüstü öğrenci/mezunları Deaflympics'in Samsun'un şehir imajına ve turizm altyapısına katkı sağladığına dair daha fazla olumlu algıya sahiptir. Engelli olmayanlar Deaflympics'in Samsun'a ekonomik katkı sağladığına dair daha fazla olumlu algıya sahiptir. Spor bilimleri öğrenci/mezunları Deaflympics'in Samsun'a ekonomik maliyet getirdiğine dair daha fazla olumsuz algıya sahiptir. Son olarak, Samsun halkının Deaflympics sonrası işaret dili öğrenmeye bir istek duyduğu da tespit edilmiştir. Anahtar Sözcükler: Deaflympics, Deaflimpik, Spor Etkinlikleri, Spor Oyunları

The aim of this study; the effects of Deaflympics on the city of Samsun are examined. In this study, as a data collection tool, 14-item personal information form, and Mega Event Impact Scale is 5-likert type (1 = strongly disagree and 5 = strongly agree) and has 36 questions and 8 sub-dimensions (city image enhancement and consolidation, tourism infrastructure, economics benefits, cultural exchange, environmental and culture preservation, economics costs, social and environmental problems, cultural conflicts) developed by Jie and Yang (2010) which validity, reliability study was done by and adapted to Turkish by Şimşek (2012), were used. Non-parametric statistical methods were used in the analysis of the data since the continuous variables examined in the study are not normally distributed. Mann-Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test and Chi-Square Test for qualitative variables and McNemar Test for dependent and independent samples based on Chi-Square statistics and Marginal Homogeneity Test were used to analyze the data according to demographic variables. According to score variables of sub-dimensions; Mann-Whitney U-Test was used for comparison of two groups and Kruskal Wallis-H Test was used for more than two group comparisons. As a result of the study, those who follow Deaflympics and postgraduate students/graduates have a positive perception about Deaflympics' contributions to Samsun's city image and Samsun's tourism infrastructure. Those who don't have obstacle have a more positive perception that Deaflympics contributions' to Samsun's economy. Those who are student/gratuated in the field of sports have a negative perception about Deaflympics' economic cost. Finally, it was found that the residents of Samsun had a desire to learn sign language after Deaflympics. Keywords: Deaflympics, Sports Events, Sports Games
