Geometrik Cisimler Konusunun Origami Destekli Etkinlikler İle Öğretiminin Başarıya Etkisi

Abstract

Matematiğin soyut kavramlardan oluşan bir bilim olmasından dolayı matematik öğretiminde kavramları somutlaştırarak anlatabilecek çeşitli yollar denenmektedir. Origami de bu anlamda kullanılabilecek materyallerden biridir. Bu çalışmanın amacı geometrik cisimler konusun origami destekli aktivitelerle öğretilmesinin 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin başarılarına ve geometriye yönelik tutumlarına etkisini araştırmaktır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin origami etkinlikleri ile zenginleştirilmiş matematik dersleri ile ilgili görüşlerinin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmaktadır.Araştırma Kastamonu İli Devrekâni ilçesindeki Yunus Emre İlköğretim Okulu Ve H.Celal Budak İlköğretim Okulunun birer şubesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 60 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisi üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Bu araştırma temelde nicel araştırma yöntemleri kullanılarak yapılmış olup, öğrencilerin görüşlerinin ortaya çıkarılması kısmında da nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden faydalanılmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel kısmında yarı deneysel desenlerden öntest-sontest eşleştirilmiş kontrol gruplu desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma problemlerinden birisi olan ?Deney grubu öğrencilerinin son tutum ve son başarı testi puanları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki var mıdır?? sorusunu yanıtlamaya yönelik deneysel olmayan yöntemlerden korelasyon araştırması deseni kullanılmıştır. Diğer yandan ?Öğrencilerin yapılan origami etkinlikleri ile zenginleştirilmiş matematik dersleri ile ilgili düşünceleri nelerdir?? şeklindeki araştırma problemini cevaplamaya yönelik nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden faydalanılmıştır.Araştırma sonucunda, origami etkinlikleriyle zenginleştirilmiş matematik derslerinin geleneksel yöntemle işlenen derslere göre öğrencilerinin başarısını artırmada daha etkili olduğu origami etkinliklerine katılan öğrencilerin başarı puanları ile geometriye yönelik tutumları arasında yüksek pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Ayrıca öğrenciler derslerde modelleri yaparken zorlanmak gibi bazı problemlerle karşılaşmış olsalar da öğretmen ve arkadaşlarının yardımıyla bu problemlerin üstesinden gelebildiklerini ve origami derslerini etkili ve faydalı bulduklarını bildirmişleridir.

Since mathematics is an abstract discipline, various teaching methods are tried to make mathematical concepts concrete in teaching mathematics. Origami is one of these materials that can be used in this sense. The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of origami activities in teaching solid objects on 8th grade of students? achievements and attitudes to the geometry. In addition, it is aimed to determine students? opinions about the math lessons enriched with origami activities.This research was carried out with 8th grade 60 students who studies at Yunus Emre Elementary School and H. Celal Budak Elementary School in Devrekâni / Kastamonu. In this study, basically quantitative research methods were used. On the other hand, qualitative research methods were used in determining students? opinions. In the quantitative part of the study, pretest paired with posttest with control group from quasi-experimental design was used. To answer one of the research problems,? Is there a relationship between students? attitude post-test and achievement post-test scores in the experimental group??, one of the non-empirical methods that correlation research design method was used. On the other hand, the qualitative research method was used to answer the research problem that ?What are the students? opinions about the math lessons enriched with origami activities??There search results revealed that the math lessons enriched with origami activities were more effective than the math lessons which instructed with traditional methods and there was a positive and significant correlation between achievement scores and geometry attitudes of the students who attended math lessons enriched with origami activities. In addition, when students encountered with a problem while making origami models, they overcome these problem with the help of their friends and their teacher. Moreover, the students stated that origami lessons were very effective and useful.
