First Record of the Carassius Auratus (Linnaeus, 1758) in Inland Waters of Ordu Province and Some Data on the Ulugöl Plateau Pond Population of the Species

Abstract

Aquarium fish trade is one of the global industrial areas that is gradually increasing in popularity throughout the world. The sectors all over the world as well as in Turkey is one of the major causes of the spread of invasive species. The non-native aquarium fish species is known for the existence of Turkish inland waters these days. In this study, Carassius auratus were recorded for the first time in the inland waters of Ordu province of the middle Black Sea Region. C. auratus was stocked in the Ulugöl Plateau Pond in Ordu-Mesudiye for fisheries purposes and adapted to this habitat. © 2021 The Author(s).
