Xıx. Yüzyılın İlk Yarısında Terme Kazası'nın Nüfusu

Abstract

Tarih Boyunca devletler vergi toplama, askerlik ve iskân gibi konularda nüfus tespitine ihtiyaç duymuştur. Türk tarihinin en önemli devletlerinden biri olan Osmanlı Devleti de kuruluş döneminden itibaren çeşitli yöntemler kullanarak nüfusu tespit etmeye çalışmıştır. II. Mahmud döneminde yeni kurulan Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye'ye asker ihtiyacı üzerine geniş kapsamda bir nüfus sayımına ihtiyaç duyulmuş ve 1831 yılından itibaren nüfus sayımları ve yoklamaları yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu sayımlar 1835 yılında Terme Kazası'nda da yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Sayımların kayıtlarının tutulduğu 6 adet defter tespit edilmiştir. 19. yüzyılın ilk yarısında Terme Kazası'nın nüfusunu tespit etmek için 976 ve 1026 numaralı defterler ana kaynak olarak incelenmiş ve 1835-1844 yılları arasındaki 9 yıllık süreç ele alınarak değerlendirmede bulunulmuştur. Buna göre Terme Kazası'ndaki toplam erkek nüfusu, asker kayıtları, doğum ölüm oranları, isimler ve lakaplar gibi birçok konu hakkında bilgilere ulaşılmıştır.

Throughout history goverments have needed population determination in matters such as tax collection, military service and housing. The Ottoman State, on of the most important states in Turkish history has tried to determine the population by using various methods since its establishment. A large-scale population census was needed on the military needs of the newly established Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediyye during the II. Mahmud period and since 1831, the population censuses and examinations have begun to be made. These censuses began to be made in the Terme town in the year of 1835. 6 books have detected for the records of the counts. İn the first half of the 19th century, the boks 976 and 1026 were examined as the main source to determine. The population of the Terme town and the 9 year period between 1835-1844 have been evoluated. According to this, in the Terme town have been reached information on many topics, such as total male population, military records, birth and death rates, names and nicknames.
