Abstract

The paper deals with an analysis of multipath components (MPCs) propagation in the 60 GHz band based on frequency-domain channel measurements. The main goal of this work is to examine the power and the RMS delay spread distributions and their mutual dependence for a static urban environment. The paper evaluates the reflective properties of the surrounding objects and the effect of co-polarized and cross-polarized transmitting and receiving antennas on the above distributions. It is shown that some relations between the received signal power and the RMS delay spread can be found particularly for the co-polarized antennas, but that they are only of limited validity. The presented analyses show very good reflective properties of the asphalt surface and demonstrate them by the small difference between the direct and the reflected MPC magnitudes. © 2019 IEEE.
