Hydatid cyst is a zoonosis located most commonly in the liver and lungs and is frequently encountered in our country. Its localization in the musculoskeletal system is quite rare and the diagnosis is difficult due to the nonspecific symptoms of the patients. In this arti-cle, a case of hydatid cyst located in the left vastus medialis muscle in a 60-year-old male farmer is presented. Multiple cystic lesions consistent with hydatid cyst were detected by magnetic resonance imaging, and after two weeks of albendazole treatment, total cyst excision was performed. The patient was diagnosed with skeletal muscle hydatid cyst by pathological examination and albendazole treatment was given for a total of three months. No complications or recurrences developed in the six-month postoperative follow-up. Hydatid cyst should be considered in the differential diagnosis of mass lesions of muscle and soft tissue, especially in endemic areas.en_US
