Publication: Undergraduate Relations of the Department of Social Work Attitudes Towards the Online Creative Drama Course and Opinions on the Course Process
Abstract
This research aimed to assess the attitudes of fourth-year undergraduate social work students in the Faculty of Health Sciences toward the creative drama course and how their views on this method impact their professional perspectives. A sequential explanatory design from the mixed methods model was employed for the study. The sample consisted of 56 fourth-year students from the Social Services department of a state university. The \"Attitude Scale Towards Creative Drama Course,\" developed by Adıgüzel (2006a), was used to collect data on participants' attitudes toward the creative drama course. Additionally, an online form was utilized after each session and at the end of the semester to gather students' feedback on the course. The course was conducted over 15 weeks, totaling 30 hours (2 hours per week). Data were collected both qualitatively and quantitatively: qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney U test. The findings indicated that the creative drama course positively impacted the attitudes of undergraduate students in the Department of Social Services, leading to increased mean attitude scores. During the distance education process, students' active participation and the requirement to keep cameras on enhanced their engagement and interest in the course.
