Abstract
Abstract: A novel one-dimensional coordination polymer, catena-poly[μ-succinatobis(isonicotinamide-κN)diaquaco-balt(II)], [Co(suc)(ina)<inf>2</inf>(H<inf>2</inf>O)<inf>2</inf>]<inf>n</inf> (suc = succinate, ina = isonicotinamide), was synthesized via the reaction of cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate, sodium hydroxide, succinic acid, and isonicotinamide in aqueous methanol. Structural characterization using single crystal X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy, and thermal analysis revealed that Co(II) exhibits an octahedral coordination geometry, with succinate bridging the cobalt centers to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain. Extensive hydrogen bonding stabilizes the three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. 2025.
