Abstract

Carcinosarcoma of the breast represents less than 1% of primary mammary malignancies. This tumor is defined histologically by both malignant connective tissue (sarcoma) and malignant epithelial component (carcinoma). Clinically, the majority of the patients with mammary carcinosarcoma present with breast swelling or a palpabl mass, and the exact histologic diagnosis can not be made preoperatively by radiologic methods. But this diagnosis may be suggested with mammographic findings of cloudy calcification assosiated with an asymetric dens mass. In this case, mammographic, ultrasonographic, clinical and histological features of this rare carcinosarcoma, which is infrequent than other breast sarcomas such as malignant fibrous histiocytoma, liposarcoma and fibrosarcoma are discussed with a review of the literature.
