Abstract
In this study, photovoltaic solar panels which are polluted under Samsun conditions were cleaned and their effects on efficiency were investigated. Over time, dust, wind, bird droppings, acid rain and so on can be seen on solar panels. It is especially important for low-frequency rainfall and heavy rainfall. In order to measure the energy loss due to pollution, the series of panels connected to the inverter-1 of the solar power plant established within the Technopark of Samsun Ondokuz Mayis University was cleaned and the values were read. Efficiency analysis was performed by comparing the readings with the dirty panel array connected to inverter-2. The values were recorded at different times depending on the different falling angles of the sun, in the morning and at noon. The powder samples taken from the panel surface were examined in the laboratory and their properties were determined. After the results were recorded, they were converted into graphs and tables and evaluated afterwards. It was observed that the power output of the modules increased as a result of manual cleaning of the contaminated modules due to dusting. It was concluded that cleaning should not be neglected as the time interval to be given at the frequency of cleaning will create uncertainty in the pollution rate. Keywords: Renewable energy, Solar irradiation, PV Performance, soiling
