Bis[1-(But-2-enyl)-5-Nitro-1H-Benzimidazole-κN-3]-Dichlorocobalt(II)

Abstract

The title compound, [CoCl<inf>2</inf>(C<inf>11</inf>H<inf>11</inf>N <inf>3</inf>O<inf>2</inf>)<inf>2</inf>], was synthesized from 1-(but-2-enyl)-5-nitrobenzimidazole and cobalt dichloride in ethanol. The CoII atom has a distorted tetrahedral geometry, coordinated by two Cl atoms and two N atoms. The molecule is located on a twofold rotation axis, which passes through the Co atom. In the crystal structure, molecules are connected by intermolecular C - H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions. © 2006 International Union of Crystallography. All rights reserved.
