Abstract

The compound 4-(2-Isopropyl-5-methylphenoxy)phthalonitrile was a precursor in the synthesis of tetrasubstituted phthalocyanines. It was observed that the compound contained two benzene rings that were connected by an O atom, and the dihedral angle between them is 86.83 (1)°. It was found that the C-O-C angle was 118.50 (14)°. It was also found that the C-C bond distances and C-C-C angles in the two benzene rings were in good agreement with the expected values for aromatic rings.
