The present study aimed to analysis our small series consisting of the cases diagnosed as a pleomorphic adenoma of parotid gland. Records of 24 cases with postoperative diagnosis of parotid gland pleomorphic adenoma which operated by us between 2011-2015 were investigated retrospectively. The cases were evaluated in terms of demographic features, clinical and radiological findings, preoperative fine needle aspiration and postoperative histopathological examination Results, applied surgical method, complications and recurrens. The mean age of the cases was 44,66±15,47 and female/male ratio was 1,66. The tumor has superficial localisation in 21 (%87,5) and deep in 3 (%12,5) cases. Common clinical finding was painful mass (%54,17) and average symptomatic duration of disease was 66,91±70,07 months. Most used radiological method in diagnostic process was ultrasonography (%70,83). Results of fine needle aspiration were "benign cytology" for all cases and specific diagnosis was detected for 20 cases (%83,33). Depending on the tumor location superficial or total parotidectomy were preferred for treatment. The mean duration of operation was 139,79±34,15 minutes. Facial nerve dysfunction was common surgical complication (%50). The mean follow-up time of the cases was 27,33±11,98 and recurrence was not observed in any patient during this period. Ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration are easily implemented and cost-effective methods which must used in the first step of the diagnostic process of pleomorphic adenomas. No any recurrence was not seen in our patients during average 27-month follow-up after total or superficial parotidectomy, however rate of surgical complications, especially facial nerve dysfunction rate were high. © Gülhane Tip Fakültesi 2016.en_US
