| dc.description.abstract | Epidermoid tumours located within the brain parenchyma are very rare lesions. These tumours originate from the remnants of embryological mesoectodermal cells. A 12-year-old boy was admitted to the neurosurgery clinic with headaches and seizures. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed and it revealed a mass lesion located in the right temporal gyrus. A right pterional craniotomy was performed and the tumour was exposed through a small (1 cm) cortical incision over the middle temporal sulcus. The intraoperative findings revealed an intraparenchymal epidermoid tumour. The tumour and the capsule were totally removed. The postoperative course was uneventful and the neurological examination showed no neurological deficit related with operation. Histopathologic examination result was compatible with an epidermoid tumour. In this article, the clinical, radiological and operative characteristics of the patient with an epidermoid tumour are presented. | en_US |
