Abstract

The crystal structure of the N-Phenyl-Ń-(2-thienylmethylene) hydrazine was synthesized by a condensation reaction of thiophene-2-carbaldehyde with phenylhydrazine. All bond lengths and angles in the compound were found to be normal. The molecule was distorted from planarity; the dihedral angles of phenyl and thiophene rings with the plane formed by atoms C1/N1/N2/C7/C11 were 9.6 (3) and 9.82 (3)°. The crystal packing was mainly stabilized by van der Waals interactions. A short C7 single bonded with H7···Cg (centroid of the phenyl ring), was attributed to the C single bonded with H···π interaction.
