Lise Öğrencilerinin Biyoloji Öğretiminde Bilgi ve İletişim Teknolojileri (BİT) Kullanımına Yönelik Tutumlarının Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelerin hayatımızın her alanında söz sahibi olması ve bu gelişmelere gencinden yaşlısına her bireyin ayak uydurması kaçınılmaz bir gerçek olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Eğitim hayatında da bu gelişmelerin yakından takip edilmesi; özellikle gelişmeyi hedefleyen her toplumun temel amaçları arasında olmalıdır. Yapılan bu araştırma çeşitli liselerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin biyoloji öğretiminde bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri (BİT)kullanımına yönelik tutumlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma var olan bir durumu saptamaya yönelik betimsel bir araştırma özelliğinde olup, tarama modeline uygun olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma verileri 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim yılının bahar döneminde Samsun ili Vezirköprü ilçesinde çeşitli liselerde öğrenim görmekte olan 9., 10.,11. ve 12. sınıf toplam 295 öğrenciden elde edilmiştir. Öğrencilere 'Biyoloji Öğretiminde Bilgi ve İletişim Teknolojileri (BİT)Kullanımı Tutum Ölçeği' uygulanmış olup, elde edilen sonuçlar SPSS istatistik programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin 175'i kız, 120'si erkektir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular neticesinde öğrencilerin biyoloji öğretiminde bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri kullanımına yönelik tutum düzeylerinin cinsiyete, sınıf düzeyine ve okul türüne göre fark göstermediği saptanmıştır. Ölçek maddelerinin değerlendirilmesi sonucunda biyoloji öğretiminde bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri kullanımının öğrenciler açısından avantajlarına bakıldığında; öğrencilerin biyoloji öğretiminde bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri kullanımının oldukça önemli olduğunu, konuları anlamalarını kolaylaştırarak daha ilgi çekici hale getirdiğini ve biyolojiye olan ilgilerini artırdığını, ödevlerini daha kısa sürede yapmalarına imkan tanıdığını, ayrıca kitaplara oranla daha fazla ve yeni bilgiye ulaşabildiklerini, farklı okullardaki öğrencilerle işbirliği yaparak öğrenme etkinliklerinde daha etkin rol alabildiklerini belirttikleri görülmüştür. Bunun yanında öğrencilerin biyoloji öğretiminde BİT kullanımının zahmetli olması, göz hastalıklarına ve çeşitli omurga hastalıklarına yol açabilmesi, konsatrasyonlarını olumsuz yönde etkilemesi ve enerji tasarrufu sağlamaması gibi dezavantajlarının olduğu şeklinde görüş bildirdikleri görülmüştür. Elde edilen bu sonuçlara göre günümüzde birçok alanda olduğu gibi bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerinin biyolojinin öğretiminde de aktif bir şekilde kullanılması öğrencilerin öğrenmelerine yardımcı olacağı düşünülmektedir.

It is an inevitable fact for scientific and technological developments to have a say in every aspects of our lives and every individual, young and old, to keep up with these developments. Following these developments closely in education life should be among the main objectives of especially each society aiming at development. This study was carried out to find out the attitudes of students studying at various high schools towards using information and communication technologies (ICT) in biology teaching. The study is a descriptive study aiming to determine an existing situation and was carried out in accordance with survey model. Study data were collected from a total of 295 students studying at 9,10,11,12th grades of various high schools in Vezirköprü town of Samsun province during the spring semester of 2020-2021 academic year. 'Using ICT in Biology Teaching Attitudes Scale' was applied to students and the results obtained were analyzed by using SPSS statistical program. 175 of the students in the study were female, while 120 were male. The results obtained showed that students' attitudes towards using information and communication technologies in biology teaching did not differ in terms of gender, grade and school type. As a result of the evaluation of scale items, when the advantages of using information and communication technologies in biology teaching were examined in terms of students, it was found that students stated using information and communication technologies in biology teaching was very important, it facilitated understanding the subjects and made them more interesting and thus increased their interest in biology, enabled them to do their homework in shorter time, they could access more and new information when compared with books and they could have a more active role in teaching activities by cooperating with students in different schools. It was found that the disadvantages of using ICT in biology teaching were expressed as being inconvenient, causing eye diseases and various spinal diseases, having a negative effect on concentration and not saving energy. According to these results, it is thought that the active use of information and communication technologies in the teaching of biology, as in many fields today, will help students learn.
