Some Philosophical Remarks on Narrating Hadith

Abstract

This paper will focus on the following questions, which call for a detailed discussion in order to develop a general philosophy of narration of hadiths: What sort of phenomenon is hadith narration? What are the basic elements within this phenomenon? This paper will claim that narration of hadith is not an event of bringing something from past to the present. Rather, it is the event of transformation of present through past which reveals itself from ever-changing perspectives.
