Abstract
STUDIES ON THE MORPHOLOGICAL, ANATOMICAL AND ECOLOGICAL OF SOME GEOPHYTES DISTRIBUTED IN BLACK SEA REGION ABSTRACT In this study three subspecies of Crocus species (Crocus speciosus Bieb subsp. speciosus, Crocus speciosus Bieb subsp. ilgazensis Mathew, Crocus speciosus Bieb subsp. xantholaimos Mathew) from that two of these species being endemics Blacksea region have been investigated morphological, anatomical and ecological. In the morphological part of the study, determining the morphological features of organs such as corm, leaf, flower, fruit and seeds by photographs and illustrations, it has been found out that colour of throat of perianth, corm tunic and style are important characteristics in difference between these subspecies. In anatomical studies, cross and surface section of root, stem, corm, leaf and flower parts of species has been examined and demonstrated by photographs and illustrations. In anatomical studies, it has been observed that; there are some differences in anatomical features of species. In this study, the analysis of some elements (N, P, K) was carried out in both above and underground parts of species. In addition to plant analysis, soil samples were also taken from these localities and some physical and chemical analysis were carried out. In ecological studies, it has been observed that these subspecies usually prefer the soil acidic and no salt. According to the results of plant analysis N, P and K concentrations were found to be higher in above parts as compared to underground parts. These plants generally grow on soil with sandy loamy texture, which are low calcareous, low saline. In addition to, possible variations in morphology, anatomy ands ecology of subspecies in relation to altitudinal variations were determined a increase in cortical area vascular tissue and thickness of cuticle in parellelity with altitudinal increase. Key Words: Geofity, Crocus speciosus, Morphology, Anatomy, Ecology
