The physical properties of chestnuts (length, width, thickness, geometric mean diameter, sphericity, volume, surface area, true density, bulk density, porosity and angle of repose) were compared for several chestnut cultivars as well as their relationship to moisture content level. Data were analysed statistically using a randomized complete block design to assess the effect of cultivar and moisture content level on the measured physical properties. All measured properties of chestnut cultivars, 'Albayrak', 'Altinay', 'Ünal' and 'Salipazari' were statistically different. In addition, all the physical properties of chestnuts were significantly related to the moisture content (P < 0.01). The physical properties of chestnut must be known in order to design equipment for planting, harvesting, transportation, storage and processing.en_US
