Publication: Aile Hekimliği Asistanlarının İş Doyum Düzeyi İle Kişisel Gelişim Yönelimleri Arasındaki İlişki
Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the job satisfaction and personal development orientations of family medicine assistants. Material and Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted between December 2022 and January 2023 with family medicine specialization students who agreed to participate in the study at universities and education and research hospitals in Turkey. The Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and Personal Development Orientation-II Scale, which have been validated and reliable in Turkish, were used in the study. Results: A total of 342 people participated in our study. The mean age of the participants was 29±4.2 years. 62% were female (n=212), 51.5% were married (n=176), and 28.7% (n=98) had children. The working period in the profession of the participants was 4.4±3.7 years, and the duration of their family medicine assistantship was 2.1±0.9 years. There was a statistically significant difference between personal development orientation scale score averages and gender, having children, economic status, having received personal development education, communication and relationship with the healthcare team, choosing the profession again, and choosing family medicine specialization again. When compared with the overall job satisfaction scores, there was a statistically significant difference between the average scores of economic status, believing in the benefits of personal development education, choosing the profession willingly, communication and relationship with the healthcare team, and expressing that they would choose medicine and the same specialization again if they had the chance. As a result of simple linear regression analysis, a positive relationship was found between job satisfaction and personal development orientation. Conclusion: Personal development orientation is an important factor in job satisfaction, and this effect was found to be significant in our study. Considering this factor is important for job satisfaction. Keywords: Job satisfaction; personality development; family practice.
