dc.description.abstractvABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to investigate the fructose and lactose supplementation to theyolk diluent containing tris buffer after washing of Saanen billy-goat ejeculates effects on thespermotosoa quality during pre freezing-thawing and post freezing-thawing periods.The research material were ejeculates obtained from each of 3 Saanen billy-goats twotimes at the 2 days of a week for a month during reproduction season. Ejeculates were washedafter their motilities, abnormalities and dead spermatosoa ratios were determined. There wereno differences in terms of spermatosoa qualities among the billy-goats (P>0,05). The ejeculateswere diluted in 3 groups of diluent: 1) Fructose containing group, 2) Lactose containing groupand 3) control group and each payette (0.25 ml) contained 100 million mobile spermatosoa.After dilution process, motilities were found as 62.4, 62.6 and 55.2 % for fructose containinggroup, lactose containing group and control group, respectively, and the differences among thegroups found significant ((P<0.05). Spermatosoa abnormalities and mortalities were highest incontrol group (P<0.05). Spermatosoa were frozen in payettes at -196ºC following gliserilisationand 3-hour equilibiration processes. After thawing process, motilities were 44.1, 41.7 and 4.8%for fructose containing group, lactose containing group and control group, respectively,(P<0,05). After freezing process, total abnormal and dead spermatosoa ratios were 30 and 33%for fructose containing group and lactose containing group and 39.5 and 45.5% for controlgroup, and the highest values were found in control group.In conclusion, it was determined that Saanen billy-goat ejeculates could be diluted intris buffer yolk diluent supplemented with fructose and lactose after washing, and also theseejeculates were proved to be used in artificial insemination in terms of spermatosoa qualities.There were no differences between lactose containing and fructose containing diluents in termsof spermatosoa qualities.Key words: Billy-goat, sperm quality characteristics, sugar supplemantation, freezing-thawing.en_US
