2-Acetamidobenzonitrile

Abstract

The title compound, C<inf>9</inf>H<inf>8</inf>N<inf>2</inf>O, was synthesized from 2-cyanoaniline and acetyl chloride in dry acetone. The crystal structure is stabilized by an intramolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond contact, which forms a six-membered ring, and two intermolecular N-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. © 2005 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.
