19. Yüzyılın İlk Yarısında Ünye Kazasının Nüfusu

Abstract

Tarihi M.Ö 15. yüzyıla dayanan Ünye tarih boyunca Hititler, Romalılar, Selçuklular ve Osmanlılar başta olmak üzere birçok devletin ve beyliğin hâkimiyeti altında kalmıştır. Bu çalışmamızda Ünye'nin 1834/1845 yıllarındaki nüfus yapısı incelenmiş olup çalışmada 976, 977 ve 1029 no'lu nüfus defterlerinden faydalanılmıştır. Nüfus defterlerindeki sayımlar, dönemin asker açığını kapatmak için, askerliğe elverişli kişilerin ve vergi mükelleflerinin sayısını tespit etmek amacıyla tutulmuşlardır. Bu amaçla bahsi geçen defterlerde Ünye'ye bağlı köylerde bulunan erkek nüfusun sayımı yapılmıştır. Bu sayımlarda her hane ayrı kaydedilmiştir. Hanelerde bulunan erkek nüfus hane reisi olarak belirlenen kişiyle olan akrabalık ilişkilerine göre kayıt edilmişlerdir. Nüfus defterinde sayımı yapılan kişilerin isimleri, yaşları, ölüm tarihleri, oğulları, yeni doğanların doğum-ölüm tarihleri, herhangi bir amaçla başka bir yerleşim yerine gitme tarihleri ve nedenleri gibi bilgiler mevcuttur. Bu çalışmamızda yukarıda bahsi geçen bilgilerden yola çıkarak 1834-1845 tarihleri arasında Ünye kazasının nüfus miktarı, bu nüfusun nitelikleri ve çeşitli özellikleri derlenmiştir. Bunun sonucunca belirtilen tarihlerde Ünye kazasının sosyal durumu ve nüfus yapısı hakkında bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Ünye, Nüfus, Nüfus Sayımı, Askerlik

Ünye has been remained under the rule of many states and principalities particularly Hittites, Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans since BC 15. In this study, the population structure of Ünye between 1834 and 1844 has been defined by examining the books numbered 976, 977 and 1029. 34 and 1844 were investigated. The census in population book No. 1834 was taken with the purpose of determining the number of people eligible for military service in order to meet the shortfall in the number of the soldiers. For this purpose, male population living in the villages of Ünye was determined. Each residence was recorded separately in these censuses. The male population in the residences were recorded according to their line of descent with the person determined as the head of the family. In the mentioned book, there were some data regarding the people whose census was taken, such as; name, age, date of death, the number of the children, the dates of birth of the newborn and the date and the reason of their moving to other settlements for any purpose. In this study, the number of the population of Ünye town between 1834 and 1844 and the characteristics of this population and the rates gathered from those characteristics are determined based on the information mentioned above. As a result of this, an evaluation has been made about the social and population structure of Ünye town during the dates mentioned.
