Publication: İlişkili Taraf İşlemleri ve Kazanç Yönetimi İlişkisi: Borsa İstanbul'da Bir Uygulama
Abstract
İlişkili taraf işlemleri, dünya çapında yaşanan finansal skandallar sonrasında önemli bir konu haline gelmiştir. İlişkili taraf işlemleri firma yöneticileri tarafından fırsatçı bir biçimde kullanılmakta, aynı zamanda işletme yararına da kullanılabilmektedir. İlişkili taraf işlemleri, yöneticilere potansiyel olarak fırsatlar sunmakta ve firmaların yöneticileri de finansal raporlama amacıyla ilişkili taraf işlemlerini kullanarak kazanç yönetimi uygulayabilmektedirler. Bu çalışma, ilişkili taraf işlemleri ve kazanç yönetimi ilişkisini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu doğrultuda Borsa İstanbul'da imalat sektöründe faaliyet gösteren 163 işletmenin 2018 yılı verileri kullanılmıştır. İlişkili taraf işlemleri ve kazanç yönetimi ilişkisi lojistik regresyon yöntemiyle test edilmiştir. Çalışmada kazanç yönetimi Beneish (1999) yöntemiyle hesaplanmış, bağımsız değişken olarak ilişkili taraf işlemlerinin belirli türleri ve literatürde sıklıkla kullanılan kontrol değişkenleri analize dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda kazanç yönetimi ile belirli türdeki ilişkili taraf işlemleri arasında anlamlı sonuçlar çıkmıştır. Analizin sonucunda ilişkili taraflara satışlar ve ilişkili taraflara borçlar ile kazanç yönetimi arasında pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişki bulunurken, ilişkili taraflardan alışlar ile kazanç yönetimi arasında negatif ve anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Ayrıca çalışmada kullanılan kontrol değişkenlerinden satış büyümesi oranı, aktif karlılık oranı ve dönen varlıkların toplam varlıklara oranı ile kazanç yönetimi arasında pozitif ve anlamlı ilişki olduğu ortaya konmuştur.
Related party transactions have become an important topic after the worldwide financial scandals. Related party transactions are used opportunistically by company managers and they can also be used for the benefit of the company. Related party transactions offer potential opportunities to managers and for financial reporting purposes, company managers are able to apply earnings management by using the related party transactions. This study aims to investigate the relationship between related party transactions and earnings management. In this direction, datas of 163 companies which operating in the manufacturing industry in Borsa Istanbul from year of 2018 were used. The relationship between related party transactions and earnings management was tested by the logistic regression method. In the study, earnings management was calculated by the Beneish (1999) method, and the types of related party transactions and control variables frequently used in the literature were included in the analysis as independent variables. As a result of the study, significant results have been found between earnings management and related party transactions of a particular types. As a result of the analysis, a positive and significant relationship was found between sales to related parties and payables to related parties and earnings management. On the other hand, a negative and significant relationship was found between purchases from related parties and earnings management. In addition, from the control variables used in the study; It has been revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between sales growth, return on assets, ratio of current assets to total assets and earnings management.
